How to Use the Florida Home Education Program

Overview

  • The Florida Home Education program is open to all Florida families whose students are eligible to attend Kindergarten-12th grade in a public school setting.
  • Under the Homeschool Statute, Enlightium Academy is considered a curriculum choice, allowing Enlightium students to attend our school as Home Education students.

Scholarships and Tuition

While the Home Education program is open to all Florida students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, tuition funding for the program is only available to students with disabilities through the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities. If your child does not have a disability, we recommend that you consider homeschooling through the Personalized Education Program, which may provide tuition assistance for some or all of your student’s tuition costs. If your child does have a disability, they may be eligible for the Family Empowerment scholarship for Unique Abilities if:

  • They are within the age range of 3 years old up to the age of 22 years old, or they are in 12th grade, whichever occurs first
  • They possess a specific diagnosis

Home Education Student

  • If you do not apply for and are approved for your student to receive funds through the Personalized Education Program, you will need to notify the state of your wish to become a Home Education Student.
  • To notify the state, file a notice of intent to homeschool with your county superintendent within 30 days of starting at Enlightium. Click here for more information about notifying the state.
  • There are very few restrictions within the Home Education program. There are no specific instructor credentials or qualifications, specific courses, or standardized assessments required.
  • You will need to maintain a portfolio of your child's digital record. Click here for more information about maintaining a homeschool portfolio.
