Calculus

Overview

Summary
Study limits, derivatives, integrals, and differential equations with applied problem sets.
Description

This two-part calculus course provides a structured introduction to foundational concepts and methods in calculus. In Calculus A, students begin by reviewing the types of functions required for calculus. Students then explore the concept of limits, conditions of continuity, and the importance of both in understanding the behavior of functions. Students progress to learning how derivatives are calculated and applied, including the chain rule and derivatives of inverse functions. Applications of derivatives include the Mean Value Theorem, identifying extrema, and solving optimization problems are also explored.

In Calculus B, students are introduced to integration, including the definite integral, area under a curve, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. The course then covers how integration is used to find area and volume, and introduces methods such as integration by parts and estimation. The final unit addresses separable differential equations, their solutions, and real-world applications. Each unit includes assessments to check understanding.
