Overview

Summary
Introduces Bible characters and doctrines through scripture, songs, and engaging activities.
Description
The Purposeful Design Bible series, published by the Association for Christian Schools International, provides students with an overview of either the Old or New Testament (alternating years), focusing on the lives of Biblical characters and how students can apply the truths learned to their own lives. The Gospel message and key lessons from the life of Christ, such as his birth, death, and resurrection, are covered each year. Lessons are enriched through visual aids and storybook Bibles, as well as live class discussions that provide students with opportunities to interact with the content and one another. Foundational doctrines are reinforced through the use of The New City Catechism questions, biblical songs, and Scripture memory.

Overview

Summary
This ELA course guides students through the writing process while strengthening spelling, grammar, and reading skills to support overall literacy development.
Description

All About Spelling

  • Learn phonograms AI, AY, UR, OA, OO, EA, ED, IGH, IR, and EY
  • Spell common contractions, such as can't
  • Identify C+l-e syllable types
  • Learn about consonant suffixes and vowel suffixes

Fables, Myths, and Fairy Tales Writing Lessons

  • Theme-based writing curriculum offers a full year of instruction for students in grades 3–5
  • Students will work through IEW Units 1–7 as they learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, and compose their own fables, myths, and fairy tales.

Fix it Grammar
Students follow the adventures of a curious town mouse and his country cousin as they explore each other’s worlds, revealing new portions of the tale in daily passages. As students hunt for and correct errors, they learn parts of speech, basic comma and capitalization rules, complex sentence patterns, and more.

Class Novels
We will also be reading four novels together as a class. We will be reading Benjamin West and His Cat Grimalkin, A Bear Named Paddington, Farmer Boy, and Toliver’s Secret.

Independent Reading
Students will be given time each day for independent reading. This will give students an opportunity to read books that they enjoy as well as read books on getepic.com

Description

Students work through Our Star-Spangled Story while learning about the history of America. They begin with creation and follow the path of how America was explored and established as a nation.
